Tutoring or language lessons

I can arrange in-person one-on-one tutoring or lessons in the Flowery Branch (30542), Ga. area.  My concentration is in Spanish and ESL (English).  I am a certified teacher by the state of Georgia in the following fields: PreK-12 in Spanish, Reading, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; and grades 4-8 in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.  I hold a Master's degree in Foreign Language Education and a B.A. in Spanish, both from the University of Georgia.  I also hold associate degrees in Spanish and Art Education from Gainesville (State) College.  I have 11 years (and counting) of teaching experience, having taught at South Hall Middle, Chestatee Middle, Gainesville (State) College, Southern Catholic College, Hall County Community Education program, and at the American School of Pachuca and Colegio Columbia of Tampico, both in Mexico.

For tutoring sessions, students should bring books, notebooks, and study material. 

For one-on-one Spanish or ESL lessons, students should bring their notebooks along with any special materials requested for the day (colored pencils, etc.)

Price is $29/hr per person + travel expense (waived for Spout Springs Library).  If you have more than one person from the same household, the price is listed in the chart below + travel expense.

Travel expense fee is calculated from my home to the tutoring location, and is set at $0.40/mile per session.

EXAMPLE: A one hour tutoring session at Hall County Main Library, every Thursday for 5 weeks.  (14.5 miles to location = $5.80 per day Travel Expense).  ($29+$5.80 = 34.80 per session).  ($34.80 x 5 sessions = $174).

Business and group classes

Do you have a special need in your business to teach your employees English or Spanish?  Are you a church group about to go on a mission trip to a Spanish-speaking country?  Do you need to learn some survival Spanish or guidance in how to create an ESL program for your specific purposes?  Does your social club have an interest in learning some Spanish?  I can develop a custom program for you.

Students should bring their notebooks along with any special materials requested for the day.  Books, if required by the instructor, must be purchased by the student(s).  

Price of the lesson is $35/hr per person + travel expense.  Discounts are given according to the number of students and can be found in the chart below (prices do not include the travel expense or document copying fee).  

Travel expense fee is calculated from my home to your location, and is set at $0.40/mile per session.  Document copying fee is waived if permission is allowed for the teacher to make copies (usually 5 copies per student per lesson) at your location.  Otherwise, a $2 per student fee will be added to each lesson

EXAMPLE 1:  A church group is preparing for a mission trip to Romania, where they will teach English as a Second Language.  They have asked Cole Institute of Language to provide a crash course in basic ESL teaching strategies within the context of their ministry.  Six people will take an hour long, 3-day course every Sunday after the service for one hour.  The church is 5 miles away.  The total cost to the church is $216. ($70 for six people) + ($0.40 x 5 miles = $2 fee) = $72 x 3 sessions = $216.

EXAMPLE 2: A business is really struggling and would like its Spanish-speaking employees to understand basic operational procedures in English.  After consulting with Cole Institute of Language regarding their exact needs, the company, located 10 miles away, contracts out a 15 lesson English program with 12 workers.  The program is led in Spanish to maximize employee learning.   The total cost to the company is $1.410.  ($90 for 12 people) + ($0.40 x 10 miles = $4) = $94 x 15 lessons = $1.410.

(Base price for entire group shown.  Additional fees per lesson include: Travel expense fee of $0.40/mile and for businesses, the document copying fee is $2/student.)

Lessons may be purchased at a minimum of one hour each to a maximum period of four hours in 30-minute increments.
