The schedule's dates and times are listed in U.S. Eastern Time (New York/Atlanta). To see your specific class schedule, you may convert the date and time of your class schedule (listed as U.S.A. - GEORGIA - ATLANTA) at http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html.
In the example, we are converting a class schedule. The schedule says that the class meets at 4 p.m., October 14, 2009, Atlanta time. We would like the check the time of the class meeting in Veracruz, Mexico. So, first we enter the information:
Next, we click "Convert time" and see the time we should connect in Veracruz is at 3 p.m.
Remember that Daylight Savings Time (Summer Time) begins on March 13, 2011 in the U.S., and the schedule for classes in your country may be affected by this change. Atlanta time is ALWAYS used for classes. We advise you to convert three dates and times:
1. Any class where both countries are on either Summer Time or Winter time simultaneously.
2. The first class after the change of summer time in your country.
3. The first day of class after the change of summer time in Atlanta.
Again, we will use Veracruz, Mexico as an example. Mexico's summer time ended on October 25, 2009, but the USA is still on summer time. The next class meeting is scheduled for October 28. We see that for that class, and until time changes in the USA, the class will meet at 2 p.m. in Veracruz:
After summer time ended in the USA on November 1, 2009, we see that the class returned to its normal meeting time at 3 p.m. in Veracruz:
If you happen to live on the other side of the International Date Line, do be very careful to also check the day of your meeting! Here is an example in Shanghai, China. Notice not only does the class meet at 5 a.m., but it also meets on November 5. So, if the schedule reads "Wednesdays, Thursdays" in the afternoon in Atlanta, this means a student in China will meet Thursdays and Fridays in the morning:
