At Cole Institute, we understand that things happen: the power goes out, the Internet isn’t working, sickness, family trouble, or extra hours at work. For this reason, we video record and archive each class. So if do you miss a class, not only will you hear what your teacher said, but you will see everything that happened in the class, from Power Point presentations to student discussions. Whenever you get a chance to log back in, no matter what time it is, you will be able to download the video and not miss out on the day’s lesson. (Please note this only applies to standard classes. If you request Skype-based lessons, you may ask a classmate to record the session for you.)
If a similar situation were to happen to your teacher, don’t worry. If a teacher doesn’t show up within the first 10 minutes of the established class schedule, you should consider the class cancelled, and we will arrange another class session with the same schedule added to the end of the course. However, if we hear about the absence in advance, we will make our best efforts to arrange a qualified substitute teacher to give the class. If we cannot find a sub, we will notify you of the cancellation ahead of time by email and arrange another class period to be added at the end of the course. Always check the course calendar for holiday periods that may occur during your course: we will make a special note of any day where classes are not scheduled.
Privately tutored students:
1. You can reschedule any class with at least 24 hours prior notice.2. If less than 24 hours notice is given (or if no notice is given), then you will still receive one free rescheduled class ("pardon") for every 5 lessons purchased. When you have no more "pardons," future lessons will not be rescheduled and you will be charged for the lesson that you missed. Pardons do not "roll over" to the next payment period.
Example: Eric purchased 12 lessons. He will receive two "pardons." He gave two weeks advance notice that he could not attend classes during a certain week because of vacation, so the classes were rescheduled. Because of the advance notice, he never had to use the pardons, but he was glad to have a few in case of an emergency.
Ana scheduled three lessons. She has no pardons. Therefore, if she misses a class, she will still be charged for that lesson (unless she provides 24 hours notice for rescheduling).
Todd scheduled 5 classes. He has one "pardon." He had an emergency one day and could not inform the teacher ahead of time. This lesson will be rescheduled free of charge. However, any future lessons he misses without 24 hours advance notice will not be rescheduled and he will not receive credit for the class.
3. Students must show up no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled time. The teacher will wait 10 minutes for student attendance, after which time if the student does not arrive, the student will be considered "absent" and will be charged for the lesson if he or she has no remaining "pardons."
